Basketball uniform rules are the ultimate “necessary evil” for referees—like enforcing a dress code at a party you weren’t invited to. Somehow, it falls on us to make sure a player’s jersey is tucked in, their undershirt is the right color, and their socks aren’t causing an existential crisis for the rulebook. Meanwhile, someone is out there committing a blatant travel, but no, heaven forbid we let a kid wear the wrong compression sleeves! It’s as if the game will collapse under the sheer weight of mismatched accessories. But hey, gotta keep the spirit of the game alive—one properly coordinated outfit at a time.
