Center Side Drives

Referee Pro Tip:
All Center side drives are NOT the same. A drive from the 3-point arc in the corner is different from a drive down the weak-side lane line or lane line closest to the Center official. The angles are different. On a drive down the lane line closets to the Center official, the Center official doesn't have a clear look at the defender. Once the ball-handler turns the corner at the free-throw line, you may be guessing if the defender creates contact or if the ball-handler is pushing off. The play opens up pretty well to the Lead official. Don't guess. Trust Lead on these types of drives to the basket. Also, don't be complacent. Position adjust if necessary. Find ways to help your crew.

Safe travels.
