I just want to sit on a bench.
COVID19 test wasn’t so bad. WNBA required us to have two daily swab tests. The first test swabs the back of your throat. You have to stick your tongue out and the nurse rubs a long Q-tip on the back part of your tongue. The second test they run with a similar Q-tip right around the front opening of your nose. It wasn’t as bad as the brain probe you see on the news. On the news it looks like the nurses are jamming the Q-Tip in the back of your brain. It tickles more than anything else. The testing process is once a day, every day. If you miss a day, you have to be quarantined again. After being in a hotel for 7 days, I don’t want to go through that again. Setting a daily alarm to be tested has become my daily norm.
The worst part of this quarantine was being confined in the hotel room. After day the third day, I was starving for some unfiltered air. Being home in my apartment during the height of the COVID19 outbreak, I always had the opportunity to step out onto my balcony to feel some fresh air.
From the hotel window I could see the waterfront. The waterfront was lined with boats and very little people. There where several unoccupied benches. At one point I felt like sneaking out of the hotel to just sit on one of the benches. I’m responsible. I promise not to get within six feet of anyone. I promise.
When this quarantine is over, I’m just going outside to touch a tree.
